Our Woodpecker's Back!

Excellent news from 2-Sox Towers - our Green Woodpecker has re-appeared!

I'd not seen him for about six months, so it was great to first hear, and then spot him, feeding and hopping around happily.

Welcome back, Woodpecker dude!

baby sarah was quite amused by the woodpecker since she has a particular squirrel she likes to keep tabs on here.

I once ran one of those over, poor thing. Least it was killed outright.
It was sitting on the roadside near Tydd ST Giles golf course in North Cambs while I was on a school run and just as I passed it, it decided it was going to pretend to be a wood pigeon and fly up diagonally in front of me.
Poor thing, I stopped and ran straight back to it but it was dead with a broken neck so I didn't know what to do with it, was so pretty so I took it home in a bag in my boot to show Hubby who was mortified I was "sick" enough to bring it back. (We didn't have pet ferrets in those days to save it going to waste- I hate waste) He ordered that I put it in the bin. He regrets it now though as he's never seen one close up and is a bird lover.
I keep meaning to get a good book of birds. I bought him binoculars last year for when he's down the river bank at Sutton Bridge.
After I ran that over we didn't see any around there for ages but they've made a bit of a comeback in the past year.
At the time I kept thinking "what if the one I killed had a nest of babies :-("
Lovely to see yours though. I promise I'll keep my car in Lincolnshire out his way.
